Joy Ellen McConnell and Sammy Lee Staples were married at a 5:30 p.m. ceremony Nov. 10, 2007, at Plain Grove Presbyterian Church. Officiating was the Rev. Herb Goetz, pastor.
The bride is a daughter of John and Lois McConnell of 1720 Georgetown Road, Volant.
Parents of the groom are Larry Staples of North Las Vegas and Deborah Staples of 1208 Albert St.
The bride’s strapless, ivory gown featured a lace bodice embellished with beadwork, full gathered tulle skirt and corset closure.
Her fall arrangement, in white and peach blossoms, contained gerbera daisies, roses, lilies and ageratum.
Honor attendants were the bride’s sisters, Pamela McConnell of Volant and Roberta Baney of Wampum.
Bridesmaids were Valerie McConnell of Wampum, Melodi Steiner of Uniontown and Kimberly Grove of West Middlesex.
Flower girls were Audrey Staples, the couple’s daughter, of New Castle, Malia Baney of Wampum and Alexis Staples of North Las Vegas.
Ring bearer was Evan Staples of North Las Vegas.
Serving as best man for his brother was Lawrence Staples of North Las Vegas.
The ushers were Jeffery Pitzer of New Castle, Anthony Verone of New Castle, David Maiella of New Castle, Todd Bonneville of Las Vegas, Eric Germani of New Castle and Jack McCann of Plano, Texas.
Reader was Ryan Baney.
Organist was Joan Davis.
The reception took place at the Mary Mother of Hope Parish Center.
The newlyweds make their home at 283 Kathleen Drive, Apt 710, New Castle.
The bride is a graduate of Wilmington High School and Penn State Shenango. She is hostess at the Hampton Inns and Suites.
Her husband graduated from Bonanza High School in Las Vegas and earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Youngstown State University. He is partial hospitalization therapist for Human Services Center.
