Service will honor fallen officers
All fallen law enforcement officers from Lawrence County will be remembered during Police Week services Thursday. The local service will begin at noon in front of the New Castle police station, 303 E. North St.

Three city residents admit to drug ring role
Nearly two years ago, eight people accused in an oxycodone ring with New Castle ties were arrested. This week, three of them pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of violating federal drug laws.

Man reported dead still alive
Joseph Lupo, who was shot Sunday night, did not die, according to state police, who initially said he had. In an update provided about 7:30 p.m. yesterday, police said the hospital has reported Lupo has been upgraded to critical condition.
