Authorities busting up local heroin network

NEW CASTLE — An alleged heroin distribution network that generated $3 million to $6 million in street sales last year is being dissolved.

District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa said those sales were in Lawrence County alone. The drug task force out of his office and his special investigation unit are serving arrest warrants this morning on 10 individuals who are wanted in connection with the illegal drug ring, he said.

Lamancusa has scheduled a press conference for 2 p.m. today on the first floor of the Lawrence County Government Center to provide more details about the investigation and arrests.
