NEW CASTLE —
Police are investigating the cause of death of a man involved in a car accident in Neshannock Township.
Norman Lupo, 79, of West Washington Street, was pronounced dead at Jameson Hospital, where he was taken after the Monday morning accident, according to the Neshannock Township police report.
Police said Lupo was driving on Wilmington Road around 8 a.m. when his car, after traveling 424 feet while partly off the road, crossed Ludwig Road, hit a billboard and landed in a ditch.
Police said Lupo was unresponsive and was taken to the hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.
It is unknown whether Lupo died of his injuries or from other causes, police said.
An autopsy was performed at Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver County.
Attempts to reach deputy coroner Alfred DeCarbo were unsuccessful last night.
