NEW CASTLE —
A New Castle couple has been charged following a double armed robbery in the city and in Shenango Township.
New Castle police Thursday night arrested Brian Keith Misner, 23, 117 Park Ave., following robberies Sunday at Tic Toc Food Mart on Highland Avenue and at the Eldorado Motel in Shenango Township. Police said a gun was used.
Shenango police say Misner fired shots inside the Eldorado. He was arraigned yesterday by District Judge Melissa Amodie on charges of criminal homicide, robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
His bond was set at $150,000.
Following Misner’s arrest on Sunday, New Castle police charged him with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, illegal possession of a firearm, prohibited offensive weapon, possessing instruments of crime and terroristic threats, in connection with the Tic Toc robbery.
He was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Scott McGrath who set that jail bond at $200,000.
Shenango Township police charged Misner’s live-in girlfriend, Dawn Marie Wallace, 31, as a conspirator in the Eldorado hold-up.
The city police, who obtained a search warrant, allegedly found items related to the two robberies at Misner’s house.
According to reports, New Castle police were called to Tic Toc around 7:50 p.m. Sunday. A clerk said a man dressed entirely in black entered the store with a gun demanding Newport cigarettes and money.
The store surveillance video shows his face, and police could see him pulling a mask over his face when he entered the store. He was identified as Misner.
Police said when they arrived at his house Thursday, they found Misner and Wallace in an upstairs bedroom. Misner, they said, told them there was a 9 mm handgun in his room.
Police confiscated a pair of black jeans with a gun clip containing 10 live 9 mm rounds. They also found a box of rounds, 11 empty packs of Newport cigarettes, two handgun holsters and a black hat.
Wallace told police she was not with Misner when he robbed Tic Toc.
She said Misner left with a man, returning a short time later with numerous packs of Newport cigarettes and $100. She said he told her he had robbed Tic Toc for cigarettes and money.
Wallace said she took Misner to the Eldorado Motel because he did not want to stay home after that. She said she went into the motel and asked for a room. When she returned to the car, Wallace said, Misner entered the motel office. She said she heard a couple of gunshots and he came running out and screamed at her to drive. She said she asked him what he had done and he told her, “Don’t worry, I just shot in the air, I didn’t kill anyone.”
She said they returned to 117 Park Ave. after that.
New Castle police released Wallace after questioning and Shenango Township police have charged her with conspiracy to commit robbery. District Judge David Rishel issued a warrant for her arrest.
