Former city man sentenced for child porn

NEW CASTLE — An East Side man charged with 200 counts of child pornography has been sentenced.

Scott Joseph Iliff, 29, formerly of Marshall Avenue, now of Houtzdale, Pa., pleaded guilty to four counts of child pornography.

He was sentenced by Judge Thomas M. Piccione to serve one to two years in a state corrections institution on each count, with credit for 30 days served. The sentences are to be served consecutively.

He also is required to provide a DNA sample and any evidence seized by law enforcement is ordered forfeited.

According to court documents, New Castle police filed charges in June 2011 after a conversation with Iliff’s parole officer. Through a search warrant, officials gained access to a backpack they said Iliff had left with a neighbor, the mother of the suspected victim.

A review of the laptop computer’s hard drive uncovered 168 images and 32 movies depicting child pornography, state police said.

Court documents noted some of the images are thought to have been produced by Iliff.
