NEW CASTLE —
State police are investigating a cruelty to animals case in which someone killed three kittens with chemicals.
According to police, the incident occurred near Cosgrove Road in New Beaver Borough between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Aug. 13. However, information was just released by police Tuesday.
The police report said someone placed the three multi-colored kittens into a feed sack, along with a bottle of mixed chemicals. The sack then was thrown along Cosgrove Road.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and witnesses are being interviewed.
Also, officers noted evidence found at the scene is being examined.

Hillsville man dead following shooting
A Mahoning Township man involved in a weekend shooting has died. Joseph Lupo, 50, of 4812 W. Main St. in Hillsville was pronounced dead Thursday by the Mahoning County, Ohio, coroner’s office.

A Pittsburgh man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking another man’s jaw in New Wilmington. Matthew Vincent Wagner, 22, was charged by New Wilmington police as the result of an incident early May 5 at the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house on Waugh Avenue.
