Wayne Township fire ruled arson

NEW CASTLE — A fire at a vacant house in Wayne Township Wednesday has been ruled an arson.

According to a state police fire marshal, the blaze at the house on 12th Street Extension was determined to have been set intentionally. The report said there were signs of forced entry to the house.

The fire, which happened around 12:30 a.m., destroyed the structure.

Firefighters from Wayne, Ellwood City, Perry-Wurtemburg, Franklin, Chewton and New Sewickley responded, but flames were shooting through the roof when crews arrived.

There were no injuries reported.
