NEW CASTLE —
An Ellwood City man has been hospitalized for apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
Ellwood City police said William Bonzo, 22, of 722 Fourth St. was taken to Ellwood City Hospital, then transferred to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Police said they received a call around 1:20 a.m. Sunday of a shooting in the 400 block of Bell Avenue. Police then received a call from Ellwood City Hospital of a man being treated for a gunshot wound.
According to police, witnesses said Bonzo went to pull a gun out of his waistband and the weapon discharged. A bullet struck his right testicle, grazed his right leg and hit his left ankle, police said.
Police said the incident is still under investigation.
