Man wanted in city robbery

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle man is wanted for his alleged role in a robbery of a man on Shaw Street last week.

New Castle police have charged Michael Patrick Quear, 19, of Apt. 1, 309 Shaw St., in connection with the attack.

A Shaw Street resident reported to police that a woman had asked him to help her move a chair around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. As soon as he stepped off the porch, he told officers, a man jumped on his back and started choking him. He said that during the attack, the woman took about $200 and a cell phone from the pocket of his shorts.

The man identified Quear from a photo lineup as the person who had jumped him, police said, and identified the woman. She has not yet been charged.

Quear faces one count each of conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit theft and conspiracy in receiving stolen property.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
