Four arrested in alleged assault

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police have arrested four men for allegedly assaulting several people at a West Side store.

Charged are 22-year-old Ryan Anthony Waters of 1205 Sunny Ave., 23-year-old Michael Waters of 201 E. Moody Ave., 19-year-old Jalen Waters of 15 W. Edison Ave., and  Christopher Waters, 20, of 13 W. Washington St.

Four people, including a juvenile, reported to police that the four Waters men jumped them in the parking lot of the West Side Mini Mart at 407 W. Washington St. around 10:15 p.m. July 4.

One man said he was sitting in his car when the Waters men approached him and one of them hit him numerous times. Another man also said they struck him.

A woman and a juvenile who were in the store said they came out and tried to intervene and the men hit them, too.

Following an investigation, the charges were filed Friday.

Each of the Waters men is charged with four counts of simple assault and four counts of harassment in the court of District Judge Jennifer Nicholson.

They all will be sent summonses by mail to appear in court next month.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
