Man arrested for alleged gun threat

NEW CASTLE — An East Side man has been arrested for allegedly holding a gun to a woman’s head.

State police have charged Michael Angelo Ruiz, 38, of 1329 E. Washington St., Apt. 31, with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment, in connection with the Aug. 4 incident.

According to police, a woman reported she and Ruiz were in an argument around 1 p.m. that day and that he pushed her to the ground. He then held a loaded .38-caliber snub-nosed revolver to her forehead, and threatened, “I should have killed you when I had the chance,” she said.

He then dropped the gun, which belongs to her, and left her  Slippery Rock Township residence.

Police arrested Ruiz and filed charges on him on Friday. He was arraigned by District Judge David B. Rishel, who set his bond at $10,000.
