NEW CASTLE —
A Neshannock man is facing charges for allegedly burglarizing a vacant house and stealing copper pipes.
New Castle police this week charged Christopher Pagley, 27, of 316 Lake Drive, in connection with the Sept. 6 break-in.
According to reports, a witness saw a silver Buick Rainier parked in front of a house on Edison Avenue for about 90 minutes that day. The witness saw two men get out of the vehicle, with one carrying pruning shears or bolt cutters.
The witness said the men walked east toward Mercer Street and entered the vacant house, which is posted for sale. After awhile, they returned to the car, then walked back to the east side of the house and loaded items into the back of the car. Police said the witness provided a license plate number which indicated the car is registered to Pagley.
Police discovered all the copper pipe had been removed from the house.
The witness picked Pagley out of a photo lineup and told them the taller man was trying to hide the bolt cutters in his pants.
Pagley is charged with burglary, theft, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary and theft and receiving stolen property.
Police have not yet confirmed the identity of the second suspect.
Pagley was arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie, who set his bond at $5,000.
