NEW CASTLE —
A woman has been charged for allegedly egging on a 12-year-old girl during a fight.
New Castle police were contacted by the principal of George Washington School about a video that had appeared on a girl’s Facebook profile of two girls, ages 12 and 13, fighting each other in a neighborhood on the Lower East Side.
The video had been recorded on a cell phone by a juvenile witness, said police who noted the fight on the video lasted nearly 10 minutes.
About three minutes into the video, an adult woman is heard encouraging one of the girls to keep fighting. A witness told the school principal that the voice was that of Tiffany Viggano.
Police said Viggiano, 32, of 112 Pine St. could be heard saying, “Stop pulling her hair, and punch her” and “you better start punching her in the face.” Viggiano also allegedly encouraged the girl to knee the other girl in the face.
Police said Viggiano is shown on the video several times while she was standing on a porch.
Viggiano later told police that the fight occurred around noon on March 10. She said a group of juveniles were looking for the 12-year-old and she said she was aware of problems between them. She said that when she walked outside the house, the younger girl was fighting with the older girl.
Viggiano was charged Wednesday with corruption of minors. She was sent a summons to appear in court.
