Man accused of head-butting police officer

NEW CASTLE — An East Side man has been arrested for allegedly head-butting and injuring a policeman during a traffic stop.

New Castle police said De’Amonte Huddleston, 19, of 615 Raymond St., was pulled over for traffic violations around 7 p.m. Thursday and the officer reportedly smelled marijuana coming from his car.

The police said Huddleston used profanity and refused repeated orders to get out of the car. The officer said he had tried to remove Huddleston from the car, but he resisted, and after he was pulled out, Huddleston shoved him.

As the officer tried to take Huddleston to the ground to handcuff him, police said, Huddleston head-butted him in the forehead and mouth, causing him to suffer two chipped teeth, a cut forehead and a swollen lip, according to police.

Huddleston still continued to struggle with the officers and swung his arms at them. One of the officers struck him three times in the back, shoulder and head in attempt to gain compliance, then sprayed Huddleston in the face with pepper spray, police said.

Huddleston was treated at Jameson Hospital for pain in his leg before his arraignment. Police impounded his car and reported finding a small amount of suspected marijuana in a tray in the dashboard.

He is charged with aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of a small amount of marijuana and traffic violations.

He was arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie, who set his bond at $1,500.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
