Woman alleges robbery, kidnapping

NEW CASTLE — A 24-year-old woman claims two others tried to kidnap and rob her after giving her a ride.

The woman told New Castle police she was walking on Crawford Avenue on the city’s lower East Side around 2 p.m. Tuesday when a black car went past. Knowing the two occupants, she asked for a ride to her apartment on Altman Road, she said.

She sat between them on the front seat, she said, and they repeatedly told her they could rob her. She told police they drive to Westview Terrace and took her purse.

The male told her to stay in the car and the two dumped the contents of her purse onto the ground, she said.

They took her medication, cell phone and $100, she reported, left her purse and its contents on the ground and left her on Beech Street.

When questioned, the two said the woman had gone to their house on Ray Street and wanted to buy Xanax but they old her to leave.

Police said charges are pending.
