Raid turns up gun, felon

NEW CASTLE — A drug raid at a Lower East Side house on Friday yielded only a gun and arrest of a previously convicted felon.

The raid, at 718 Erie Ave., was executed with a sealed search warrant by New Castle police narcotics officers, federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents and members of the Lawrence County Drug Task Force.

They entered the house around 9 a.m. yesterday and seized a gun, according to District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa, who said no drugs were found on the premises yesterday.

The suspect’s name was not available yesterday, as charges have not been filed.

A letter writer to The News has suggested there’s plenty to be negative about when it comes to the city of New Castle. In general, are you negative or hopeful about our city?

I’m negative. Nepotism, corruption, and incompetence have ruled for years. Nothing has changed.
I’m hopeful. I view the county as a whole, so there’s a lot to be positive about.
Mixed. I think we’re like any other area. You have to take the bad with the good.
