Woman charged with DUI with child in car

NEW CASTLE — An East Side woman faces driving under the influence charges following an accident with a juvenile in the car.

Police said a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Miracle J. Olinger, 32, of 126 Richelieu Ave., had overturned onto its roof on East Lutton Street. The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Olinger had a photo identification but did not have a driver’s license, according to police. The juvenile in the car, whose age and identity were not provided by police, suffered a laceration on her right wrist and was taken to the hospital by ambulance, they reported.

The officer at the scene said he had detected the smell alcohol on Olinger and she consented to a blood alcohol test. She told police her daughter had been in the front seat without a child car seat but she had been wearing her seat belt.

Olinger was released and charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while her license was suspended, reckless driving and driving at unsafe speed.

She was issued a summons to appear in court.
