NEW CASTLE — A New Castle High School student and two others were injured Tuesday morning when a car and school bus collided.

The student, a 16-year-old male who was one of 24 junior and senior high school passengers on the bus, suffered a minor leg injury, according to New Castle police. They have not yet released his name.

Police said a car driven by Ashley Bennett, 26, of 720 Court St., skidded on the ice-covered Mahoning Avenue Viaduct around 7:22 a.m., hitting the school bus.

Police said both Bennett and Student First bus driver Edward Kocay, 51, were treated at Jameson Hospital.
