Men wanted in thefts, one accused in burglary

NEW CASTLE — Two men are wanted for allegedly stealing items, including scrap metal, from East Side neighborhoods last month.

One of them also is wanted in connection with an Oct. 27 break-in on East Washington Street.

New Castle police have charged Steven Michael Kent Jr., 23, 235 Golf Course Road, Volant, and Brian Kent, 22, 153 Green Meadows Trailer Court, New Galilee, in connection with the first incident.

Brian Kent and Danielle Louise Stahley, 20, of 134 Proch Lane, are both charged in connection with the burglary.

Both Kents are at large and wanted on warrants.

Stahley was arrested and waived her right to a preliminary hearing. Her $10,000 bond was reduced to zero and she was released, pending court proceedings.

Regarding the incident with the Kents, the police were called Oct. 17 to the 1000 block of Beckford Street, where a green Ford Explorer had left the area and scrap metal was found near a garage. Items there included a a yellow dirt bike, a two-gallon gasoline can and copper wire.

Police were called the next morning to the 500 block of Denver Avenue regarding the green Ford Explorer again, at Gaston Park. The police found the vehicle with the Kents in it. They had multiple items in the back of the truck, including scrap metal, officers said.

Brian Kent admitted to having stolen the items from the Beckford Street area.

Stephen Kent said he owned the items in the vehicle, which included a five-gallon yellow diesel fuel can, a dynajack, an aluminum gutter, a gray metal box, a metal pole, two pushmowers, bolt cutters, a wicker basket containing burned copper wire, two weed whackers, a green paintball gun, a metal ironing board, two wheels with rims, a computer keyboard and a 21-inch bow saw.

The truck was towed. Both men are charged with receiving stolen property.

Police said the East Washington Street burglary occurred between 10:30 and 11 a.m. Oct. 27. The resident told police he had gone home and found his kitchen door had been forced open and a 12-gauge hunting shotgun was missing.

A neighbor reported seeing Brian Kent and Stahley standing on an enclosed back porch near the kitchen door that morning.

Brian Kent is charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit theft, theft and receiving stolen property in connection with the break-in.

Stahley is charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit theft.
