Woman accused of damaging apartment

NEW CASTLE — A Skyview Towers resident was charged Wednesday for allegedly smashing walls in her apartment with a hammer.

New Castle police said Vickie Lawson, 53, caused the damage around midnight Oct. 12.

Police said it was the 34th call to her apartment in a month, including multiple calls that day.

A home health care worker told police said she had heard loud banging and saw Lawson smashing the walls with a hammer. She said Lawson then faced her with the hammer raised in her hand. Police said there were numerous dents and holes in the walls.

Lawson faces charges of terroristic threats and criminal mischief, and was cited under the city’s disorderly house ordinance.
