NEW CASTLE —
A New Castle man is one of two men charged with robbing a bank in West View, Allegheny County.
Regan Pierre, 20, no street address available, remains in the Allegheny County jail on $500,000 bond.
He is charged with two counts of robbery, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, unlawful restraint and traffic violations.
He is accused as a co-conspirator with Mario Robinson, 24, of New Kensington.
Pierre and Robinson are accused of robbing a Fidelity Bank on Perry Highway around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Ross Township police said.
After taking cash, they led officers on a chase to Interstate 79, where their car crashed and caused a traffic back-up, police allege. Both men then ran from the vehicle and were arrested.
Robinson was taken into custody shortly after the crash.
Police said Pierre was found on Kathleen Court in Franklin Township, when a neighbor alerted them that he saw a man hiding behind a shed.
According to court papers, Pierre had $687 on him when police arrested him. He told them he had the money because he had cashed a Social Security check.
