NEW CASTLE — A father and son were stabbed during an argument Wednesday afternoon on New Castle’s South Side.

Police Chief Robert Salem said in a press release that during an argument at 528 E. Long Ave. Joseph Bohizic stabbed his son Terry Kohlmetz in the buttocks area.

The preliminary investigation shows that Kohlmetz’s girlfriend, who was trying to intervene and stop the fight, was then threatened at knife point by Bohizic. The girlfriend then stabbed Bohizic in the chest area, ran upstairs and called 911 for help, Salem said.

Bohizic was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh and Kohlmetz was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Salem said charges are pending.
