NEW CASTLE —
L.S. Power of St. Louis, Mo., has plans to build a natural gas-fueled electricity generating plant in North Beaver Township.
The company, going by the subsidiary name of Hickory Run Energy, plans to invest $750 million in the project, which would generate wholesale electricity for retail energy companies to sell to consumers, according to company vice president Robert Colozza.
The plant is eyed for the former American Cyanamide property off Route 551 in North Beaver Township, with a substation to be built across the highway.
The plans would produce up to 500 construction jobs over a two-year period and the actual facility would staff about 25 full-time employees.
More about the proposed project, as detailed at a Lawrence County Planning Commission meeting, will be available in Wednesday’s edition of the New Castle News.
