Area offices to close for Columbus Day

NEW CASTLE — Government and other offices will be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day.

Among those that will be closed are:

•The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver license and photo center. The center also will be closed Saturday.

•Lawrence County courthouse

•The office of Allied Coordinated Transportation Services. However, the agency’s vans will be running.

•New Castle city hall

•The New Castle Public Library and the F.D. Campbell Memorial Library in Bessemer. There will be no Bookmobile service on Monday.

Beginning tonight, the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the NHL playoffs. So, who ya got? And in how many games?
