NEW CASTLE —
An Ellwood City man is wanted for allegedly robbing a man of his cell phone on the city’s South Side.
New Castle police yesterday charged Josiah Wallace Beck, 35, in connection with the incident, which the victim said occurred around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Lyndal Street.
The victim told police he had been walking from a friend’s house when Beck came up from behind him and pushed him to the ground in a church parking lot.
He said Beck punched him three times in the face, kicked him four times in the ribs, then took his cell phone.
Police said the man’s left eye was swelling and his clothes were wet and dirt-covered.
Beck is charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault and harassment.
District Judge Melissa A. Amodie has issued a warrant for his arrest.
