Highland Tic Toc robbed at gunpoint

NEW CASTLE — City police are seeking a man who robbed the Highland Avenue Tic Toc at gunpoint this week.

Officers were told a man wearing black clothing, a black ski mask and green gloves and carrying a blue plastic bag ran into the Tic Toc at 2204 Highland Ave. at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The clerk told police the man had a gun in his right hand and demanded cash from the register.

The clerk said she put an undetermined amount of cash into the man’s bag. She said he looked into the bag then ran out of the store toward Delaware Avenue.

A second clerk told police she had been in the kitchen area of the store when the man entered. She said she dropped to the floor and hid while he was there.

The store manager provided police with the video surveillance tape of the incident.

The Lawrence County commissioners have decided to solicit proposals for the private operation of the county jail. Good idea?

Yes. If it’s a more efficient way to run the jail, I’m all for it.
No. I think there would be too many questions of liability for the county.
Not sure. The county seems to be doing a good job of running the jail now. Why break it if it’s not broken?
