Two die in Wayne Township murder-suicide

NEW CASTLE — Two men are dead as the result of a murder-suicide in Wayne Township.

According to state police, the victim is Douglas C. Weingartner, 60, and the shooter was Justin Elliott Burnett, 29, both of 4347 Ellwood Road.

Police said Burnett shot Weingartner four times with a .40-caliber handgun in the older man's bedroom. Burnett then shot himself in the living room of the home.

According to police, an argument preceded the shooting.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Both men were declared dead at the scene by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Samuel Teolis.
