Woman wanted in knifing incident

NEW CASTLE — An East Side woman is wanted for allegedly cutting a woman’s back with a knife during an argument.

New Castle police have charged 45-year-old Tabitha Monique Scales-Lanier of 412 Bleakley Ave., Apt. 2 in connection with the alleged assault. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Police were called to a Cuba Street address in the West Lincoln Apartments around 9:30 p.m. A 46-year-old woman there reported that Scales-Lanier had stabbed her, and she showed them a long cut across her shoulders.

She told police that the two were arguing at a nearby park then went their separate ways. She said she arrived home to find her apartment in shambles and her personal property damaged.

She said Scales-Lanier showed up at the apartment later,  became violent and cut her in the back with a knife. Afterward  she took the woman’s light blue Ford Explorer and left, police were told.

The victim was treated at Jameson Hospital.

Scales-Lanier is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
