Man tells police someone shot at him

NEW CASTLE — A man reported to New Castle police two men shot at him Sunday on the city’s South Side.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of Hamilton Street by residents who reported hearing six or seven gunshots in their neighborhood around 9:50 p.m. 

Police said they found four 9 millimeter shell casings on Long Avenue near Hamilton Street. They said a man there told them someone shot at him but he was not hurt.

He said two men, whom he did not recognize, seemed to be following him. He said one pulled out a gun and shot at him. He said he then ran from the area.

Police said they could not find anyone matching the description they were given in the area at the time.
