Phone cable reported stolen from poles

NEW CASTLE — Shenango Township police are investigating the theft of about 250 feet of Verizon cable along Savannah Road Thursday morning.

Police said the wire was apparently cut from a utility pole. Another utility pole was sheared off due to the tension being released by the cutting of the cable, police said.

According to police, the approximate cost for repairs exceeds $8,000.

Anyone who may have seen any individuals or vehicles in the 2500 block of Savannah Road Thursday morning is asked to contact the Shenango Township police at (724) 654-2243.
