Bike, car collision injures 5-year-old

NEW CASTLE — A 5-year-old was injured Wednesday when his bicycle collided with a car on the Lower East Side.

Nathan Strayer of 104 Richilieu Ave. was taken to Jameson Hospital for treatment.

New Castle police reported Jenee Dosch, 22, of 199 S. Walnut St. was westbound on East Main Street around 11:50 a.m. when Strayer rode from an alley into the street in front of Dosch’s car.

The bicycle hit Dosch’s bumper and the boy was thrown from the bike and landed in the street. Police said he was not wearing the required bicycle helmet. An adult witness who was riding with the boy told police he had just gotten his training wheels off the bike.

The witness told police she had yelled for the boy to stop but he kept riding. She was about 75 feet behind him, she told police.

Police said Strayer was being treated for head and leg injuries and multiple abrasions.

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
