City woman accused in burglary

NEW CASTLE — A woman accused of spraying a man’s face with oven cleaner now faces additional unrelated burglary charges.

Angela Rennee Kirkland, 44, of McGrath Manor is charged with burglary and theft for allegedly entering a man’s apartment in that building July 7 and stealing a laptop computer.

New Castle police filed those charges Friday.

Kirkland had been charged June 25 with aggravated and simple assault and harassment after she allegedly sprayed a man’s face with oven cleaner and hit him over the head with a saucepan.

She waived her preliminary hearing on those charges Tuesday, and they will be held for court.

The man said Kirkland was in his apartment June 13 and he asked her to crack his back, and she complied, with him lying on the floor. When he tried to get up, she sprayed him in the face with oven cleaner, then hit him over the head with a saucepan, he told police.

Kirkland then sprayed him in the face with carburetor cleaner as he tried to stand up, he said. She then hit him in the head with the saucepan again and sprayed black paint on the glasses he was wearing, he told officers.

Kirkland then grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen counter and ran into the bathroom, and the victim followed her. He said he wrestled the knife from her. After she left, the man called 911.

He sought hospital treatment and received 10 staples in his head and underwent a CAT scan, police said.

Kirkland also has a prostitution charge against her that was filed Tuesday and is awaiting preliminary hearings for that and the burglary-related charges.

She is being held in the Lawrence County jail on $50,000 bond.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
