Man arrested in knife incident

NEW CASTLE — A North Hill man was arrested after allegedly threatening someone with a knife during a disturbance on the North Hill.

New Castle police said when they arrived at 509 Blaine St. around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, James Byron, 42, of that address was standing on the porch holding a knife.

He ran into the house when he saw police and officers surrounded the house.

A woman who lives at the house gave police a key to get in through the front door. As one officer opened the door, the police saw Byron standing a few feet from the door.

Police said that at first, he refused their commands to show his hands and go outside. One officer was able to talk him into leaving the house and he was handcuffed.

As another officer searched him for a weapon, Byron allegedly threw his right shoulder into him and tried to head-butt him, according to police.

After a struggle, officers wrestled Byron to the ground. They found a black sheath lying nearby that contained the knife Byron had been holding when police arrived.

Officers said Byron was admitted to Jameson Hospital for evaluation and charged with aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He was arraigned by District Judge Melissa Amodie, who set bond at $5,000.

It’s been a unique week on the marriage front. Actress Jodie Foster married her longtime girlfriend, while a lesbian trio that wed last year, who bill themselves as a “throuple,” have announced they are expecting. What’s your take on alternative unions?

I’m against it. I believe in one man, one woman.
I’m OK with it. As long as they’re adults, they can marry whoever they want.
A lesbian “throuple?” Really? SMH.
