NEW CASTLE —
A North Hill man with the nickname “Nerd” is accused of an armed robbery on Franklin Avenue.
New Castle police allege Anthony Eugene Dennis Jr. of 332 Highland Ave. stole a phone and a PlayStation 3 from a man, then fired a shot that just missed the man’s foot.
A warrant has been issued for the 20-year-old Dennis’ arrest.
Police said the incident happened around 12:20 p.m. Thursday. The man told police Dennis called him about a game set he had for sale. He said he walked to Franklin Avenue at Stanton Street to meet Dennis.
The victim told police Dennis was with another man and after he showed Dennis the game set, Dennis took a silver revolver from his waistband and aimed it at his stomach.
The man said Dennis told him, “You think I’m joking? Give me the PlayStation,” and fired a shot at the road near the man’s left foot. The man with Dennis hit him in the back of the head, he said, then both men ran. He said Dennis stole his cell phone and the game set.
Dennis is charged with robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault, theft and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, and discharging a firearm in public against city ordinance.
