NEW CASTLE —
A 35-year-old man from Honduras has been charged with the rape of his niece.
Eddin Rolando Garcia-Zeron has been charged by Shenango Township police with rape, aggravated assault and indecent assault.
According to court documents, police were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel on New Butler Road at 9 a.m. Tuesday regarding an altercation between a man and woman who did not speak English.
When police arrived, the woman made a call on her cell phone and handed the phone to the police officer to speak to a male on the line. The male on the phone told the officer that the woman had been raped by her uncle, who was the male she was staying with at the motel, according to the court documents.
The officer then called Lawrence Emergency Operations Center to contact a translator. Through the translator, the woman said Garcia-Zeron has raped her around 6 p.m. Monday and again around 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to court documents. He attempted a third time around 7 a.m. Tuesday, she told police.
She also said that around 6 p.m. Monday, Garcia-Zeron had given her a drink. After drinking it, she became dizzy and lost her energy within about 30 minutes, according to court documents.
Garcia-Zeron was arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie and placed in the Lawrence County jail on $25,000 bond.
