NEW CASTLE —
Two New Castle men have been arrested for allegedly stealing a man’s gun and threatening him in Ellwood City.
N’Agapa Bumpus of 1811 Pennsylvania Ave. and Alya-Wan Julian Johnson of 413 N. Cedar St., both 19, were arrested by Ellwood City police Wednesday afternoon.
According to court records, a man reported to the police that Bumpus and Johnson, who live in a nearby apartment, had stolen his gun. He said that when they went to take the gun, Bumpus pulled a shotgun on him and threatened him. The victim said he was visiting in an apartment with two other men and Bumpus was in the apartment.
Bumpus allegedly grabbed a snub-nosed from one of the men and tried to leave with it, according to reports.
The victim kept asking for his gun back and Bumpus emerged from a bedroom with the shot gun and pointed it at the victim. He threatened to shoot him and said, “I’m not playing.”
When police located the two men later, they arrested them, and while searching them, police found a gun in Johnson’s right front pocket that police said was the one stolen.
Bumpus is charged with theft, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person, carrying a firearm without a license and aggravated assault.
Johnson is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property.
They were arraigned by District Judge Jerry G. Cartwright, who set Bumpus’ bond at $50,000 and Johnson’s at $25,000 and lodged them in the Lawrence County jail.
