Hooker named first-team all state; Blundo coach of the year

NEW CASTLE — The honors keep coming for the New Castle High boys basketball team.

The 2013-14 Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Boys Basketball teams were released Friday and Malik Hooker (first team) and Anthony Richards (second team) earned honors in Class AAAA. Head coach Ralph Blundo was named the classification's Coach of the Year.

Hampton's Ryan Luther made the Class AAAA first team and was named the classification's Player of the Year.

The Red Hurricane, which beat Luther's Talbots four times this season, wrapped up its third-straight WPIAL title and the PIAA Class AAAA championship during an unbeaten run (31-0).
