Pain doctor convicted

NEW CASTLE — Dr. Van Edward Scott, a pain doctor who formerly practiced in New Wilmington, was convicted Friday of drug-related offenses.

The  jury, after deliberating for more than seven hours, handed down the verdict around 10:30 p.m. against the 61-year-old Scott, finding him guilty of 10 of the 14 charges against him.

He remains in the Lawrence County jail on a total of $800,000 in bonds — one for $750,000 and one for $50,000.
