Teen arrested after demanding car keys

NEW CASTLE — A teenager who demanded a couple turn over their car to him is now in police custody.

Neshannock Township police said a 17-year-old New Castle resident entered a home in Lightner Place at 4 a.m. Saturday and demanded the keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Police said the suspect fled after the homeowner ordered him to leave and started to call the police.

Officers said the teen was located a short time later at a Mercer Road address and taken into custody.

He was lodged in the Krause Shelter pending charges of burglary, robbery, criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness.
