Police: Man assaulted woman with hot tomato sauce

NEW CASTLE — A North Hill man is facing charges for allegedly hitting a woman and throwing tomato sauce at her.

New Castle police said Eric S. Pennachio, 43, of 605 Highland Ave., was at a neighbor’s residence at 3 p.m. Saturday and became angry with her when she received a text message from another man and he saw it.

The woman told police said Pennachio slapped her on the right side of her face, spat on her then threw her onto a bed. She said he followed her into the kitchen and  threw a large container of hot tomato sauce at her.

She said she told him to leave and he threw hot water from the sink onto her, in front of a witness, according to reports.

Pennachio is charged with simple assault and harassment. District Judge Melissa A. Amodie set his bond at $5,000 and he is in the Lawrence County  jail.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
