NEW CASTLE — A line of thunderstorms rolling through Lawrence County Wednesday afternoon was causing downed trees and power lines, as well as flooding in New Castle.
City police were closing a section of Mill Street from the downtown to the South Side after 5:30 p.m. because the street was flooded. Several vehicles were reported stuck in the water.
Streets in the downtown were running full of water with driving hazardous.
Three houses in the 800 block of Neshannock Boulevard were reported hit by a lightning strike but there was no fire.
Trees were reported down in various parts of the county along with power lines.
A tornado warning was in effect in the county, with additional storms in Ohio moving toward the county.
