Purse snatching attempted

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police reported an attempted purse snatching in the city’s downtown.

The attempted robbery occurred around 11:45 a.m. July 2 in the 100 block of South Mercer Street.

According to police, a woman said she was walking into a building and approaching the elevators when a man came up behind her and demanded she give him her purse. He then grabbed the purse, but the woman refused to let go.

Once he gained possession of the purse, the woman grabbed the man’s hand and began to bend his finger back, police said. She told the man that he could have the money, but asked if she could have her personal belongings.

He responded, “Don’t make this difficult.”

Another man entered the building and asked the woman if she knows the individual, and she told him, “No, he’s robbing me.”

The man then let go of the purse and left the building.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
