City to mail property tax bills

NEW CASTLE — The New Castle treasurer’s office will mail 2013 property tax statements next week.

For the first time, property owners will be able to pay their city taxes in three installments.

In addition, taxes can be paid by credit card: Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

The statements explain how the installment option works, as well as paying the taxes in full.

The due dates to pay taxes in full are April 30 for the discount, July 1 for face value and Dec. 31 for the penalty.

If taxpayers choose to make three installment payments, the first payment must be made by April 30. If the first installment is not paid by that deadline, the taxpayer cannot opt into the installment plan.

The second installment payment is due by May 31 and the third by July 1.

Penalties will be assessed if the second and third installments are not paid by the due dates.
