Shenango teens face arson, other charges

NEW CASTLE — Two teens face arson and other charges after they allegedly set fire to a house and blew up mailboxes.

Shenango Township police charged Daniel Robert McConahy, 19, of 915 Marie Ave. and Joshua Michael Klein, 18, of 3940 Hollow Road in connection with the April 4 house fire at 3412 Ellwood Road and damages to mailboxes in the township over a period of time.

The pair face a total of 39 charges, with four counts of arson the most serious.

They have been lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bond each.

Police said the fire apparently was started by a flare the two allegedly had shot out of a flare gun.

Officers also allege McConahy and Klein had been making and testing the explosive devices in a wooded area in the Castlewood section of the township.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
