NEW CASTLE —
A man accused of assaulting his twin infant daughters last week waived his charges to court.
Christopher Kozuna, 21, of 1111 Booker Drive, faces two charges each of aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He remains in the Lawrence County jail on $150,000 bond.
According to police reports, an investigation began in August when one of the girls, now 8 months old, was taken to Jameson Hospital for medical attention. The baby was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh when doctors diagnosed bleeding in her brain. Police said medical reports indicate the child may have suffered permanent brain injury.
After interviewing family members, police said, the second child was taken to Children’s Hospital by Lawrence County Children and Youth Services. It was determined she had suffered a skull fracture deemed to be an old injury.
