Gas leak forces Shenango evacuation

NEW CASTLE — A gas leak Friday afternoon forced the evacuation of Shenango Area High School.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Schreck said a leak occurred to a gas regulator outside the building. Students were transferred to the elementary school around 1:15 p.m., he said, and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania was notified.

Schreck said the district received the all clear around 1:30 p.m. and students were allowed to return to the high school.
