A New Castle man’s father has turned him in as a suspect in a Neshannock Township service station burglary.

Alex John Benkosky, 21, of 821 S. Mercer St. was  arrested Monday in connection with the April 11 break-in.

He was arraigned before District Judge Scott McGrath on charges of burglary, theft, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

He remains in the Lawrence County jail on $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Central Court.

Neshannock Township police were called to the BP Oil Co. station at 1509 Wilmington Road, where they found the glass window of the front door smashed and cigarettes and scratch-off lottery tickets were reported missing from inside.

Benkosky’s father contacted the police on May 30 and said he was concerned about his son. Officers said the older Benkosky then related information corroborating statements that police had obtained from another person of interest in the case.
