Metal, wire stolen from CEMEX

NEW CASTLE —

Thefts of metal parts and high voltage wires were reported stolen from the CEMEX property in Wampum.

Another Wampum area business also was vandalized.

State police said that between June 14 and June 18, someone cut the lock on a gate and entered the property at 2001 Portland Park and stole steel pipe fittings, drive couplings, wear bars and plates.

The lock on the gate to the substation also was cut, and someone entered the high voltage area and stole about 40 feet of copper wire.

Both incidents caused nearly $8,000 in damage, police said.

Police reported that someone broke into a building of Metal Cutting Spec Group on Route 18 and vandalized the property, causing about $9,000 damage.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the state police at (724) 598-2211.
