Police probe shooting incident

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police are investigating the case of a man shot in the abdomen on the city’s lower East Side.

Zachary Glaude, 19, of 699 Arlington Ave. was found lying on a bed in a house at 610 Spruce St. around 3:15 p.m. Friday, police said. He was taken to Jameson Hospital and later flown to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

At flrst, police were told a man had shot Glaude and left in a vehicle. But neighbors said they did not hear gunshots nor see anyone leave.

The resident of the house, Zachary Loughner, 19, was found to have a bag of marijuana in his pocket, officers said. He told police Glaude had shot himself accidentally while handling the firearm, they said, adding a man nicknamed “Gook,” who owned the gun, then took it and ran out of the house.

An office saw a slug on the upstairs hallway floor and found numerous pills on an upstairs dresser, along with a pill bottle containing suspected marijuana, police said.

Officers obtained a search warrant and learned Loughner had hidden the firearm in the basement under a china cabinet.

Officers found a Glock model 27 handgun there, along with a .38-caliber revolver, loaded with nine live bullets, in a paper bag and three foil wrappers containing suspected heroin next to the guns.

Police also found various other pills and drug paraphernalia in the house.

Lougher was on probation, according to police, and the Lawrence County Adult Probation office requested he be detained. The investigation is ongoing.

A report on Glaude’s condition was not available Monday.

No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
